{"id":2169,"date":"2017-02-17T17:00:37","date_gmt":"2017-02-17T22:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oui-iohe.org\/conseil-superieur-iglu-2017-2018\/"},"modified":"2019-01-08T15:37:43","modified_gmt":"2019-01-08T20:37:43","slug":"higher-council-iglu-2017-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oui-iohe.org\/en\/higher-council-iglu-2017-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"IGLU Higher Council (2017-2018)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Higher Council of the <strong>Institute for University Management and Leadership (IGLU),<\/strong> of the <strong>Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE)<\/strong> for the period 2017-2018 will be composed of the following high authorities of higher education institutions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brazil,<\/strong>\u00a0Luciano Marcelino, Vice-President of Institutional Developement,\u00a0<em>Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina<\/em>\u00a0(UNISUL);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Colombia,<\/strong>\u00a0Clara In\u00e9s Garc\u00eda, Coordinator, IGLU Colombia Headquarters, <em>Universidad del Rosario;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>El Salvador,<\/strong>\u00a0Judith Mendoza, President, <em>Universidad Modular Abierta<\/em> (UMA);<\/li>\n<li><strong>M\u00e9xico,<\/strong>\u00a0Silvia \u00c1lvarez, Ex-President, <em>Universidad de Guanajuato<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Puerto Rico,<\/strong>\u00a0Agust\u00edn Echavarr\u00eda, Vice- President of Academic Affairs,\u00a0<em>Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico<\/em> (INTER).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During its first virtual meeting, the Higher Council of the IGLU appointed its leadership; thus, Dr. Agust\u00edn Echevarr\u00eda, of the INTER, will occupy the Presidency and Dr. Judith Mendoza, of the UMA, the Vice-Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>The respective Executive Directors of the IOHE and the IGLU, Dr. David Julien and Dr. Miguel Escala, expressed their satisfaction about the new composition and thanked the outgoing President, Dr. Silvia \u00c1lvarez, of the <em>Universidad de Guanajuato<\/em> (Mexico), for her commitment and leadership during all these years of service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are confident that the members of this new Council will encourage the growth of the IGLU and promote the continuity of its activities which are at the forefront of higher education in the continent,&#8221; said Dr. Escala.<\/p>\n<p>The Superior Council responsibilities include the adoption of guidelines and working orientations, as well as the mechanisms of evaluation of the IGLU program, in accordance with its strategic objectives, in order to ensure the same quality, the implementation of action axes, the approval of development plans, budget, annual report of activities, the internal regulation and propose to the Board of Directors reforms that it deems appropriate for the regulation of the program.<\/p>\n<p>The IGLU organizes dozens of events every year, such as the IGLU Course in seven host institutions, Specialized Courses, Seminars, Internships, among others, where hundreds of participants from all over the continent exchange experiences and strengthen institutional ties.
