{"id":2296,"date":"2016-10-11T17:00:46","date_gmt":"2016-10-11T21:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oui-iohe.org\/oui-mision-paises-andinos\/"},"modified":"2019-01-09T10:56:42","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:56:42","slug":"iohe-mission-andean-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oui-iohe.org\/en\/iohe-mission-andean-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"Fruitful IOHE mission to the Andean Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Director of the <strong>Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE),<\/strong> Dr. David Julien, participated in a working mission to Chile on October 4-7, 2016, in order to attend the <strong>IOHE Andean Countries Regional Assembly<\/strong>, the <strong>Andean Countries EMULIES Meeting,<\/strong> and strengthen ties with university and government authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The Regional Assembly took place at the Santiago Campus of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/ulagos.cl\/\">Universidad de los Lagos,<\/a><\/em> host institution of the Regional Vice-Presidency, led by its President, Dr. \u00d3scar Garrido \u00c1lvarez. A total of 18 member representatives attended the activity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Andean countries\u2019 participation is always enriching, diverse and enthusiastic, a reflection of the region and the four countries that compose it: Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. We are planning many projects and we are certain that we count with the necessary commitment and leadership\u201d, Dr. David Julien said.<\/p>\n<p>At the <em>Universidad de Los Lagos, <\/em>the IOHE Executive Director met with high authorities, researchers and academics to tighten interinstitutional relations.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the IOHE participated in parallel meetings with Dr. Mar\u00eda Isabel Munita, Executive Director, <em>Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas<\/em> (CRUCH); Dr. Marcela Letelier, Executive Director, <em>Consorcio de Universidades del Estado de Chile<\/em> (CUECH); the team in charge of internationalization at the <em>Universidad de Santiago de Chile<\/em>; and Dr. Christian Nicolai, Executive Director of the <em>Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y Tecnol\u00f3gica<\/em> (CONICYT). Within the framework of this international mission<em>, <\/em>Dr. Julien also had a rendezvous with H.E. Canadian Ambassador to Chile, Marcel Lebleu.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Dr. Julien participated in the Andean Countries Meeting of the <strong>Space for Women Leaders of Higher Education Institutions of the Americas (EMULIES)<\/strong>, which was possible thanks to the collaboration of the <em>Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica Metropolitana<\/em> (UTEM). This initiative was launched by the IOHE program <strong>College of the Americas (COLAM)<\/strong>.
