The project presented by Brenda Ivonne Garc\u00eda Portillo, representative of the <em>Universidad de Monterrey<\/em> was awarded the first prize.<\/p>\n<p>The Inter-American Prize for Educational Innovation in Higher Education (MEIN) aims to promote the dissemination, exchange and knowledge of educational practices that, due to their characteristics and results, are relevant examples of educational innovation in higher education.<\/p>\n<p>The selection of the winning projects was carried out by an international jury constituted by international academic experts with wide experience in the fields of education and research.<\/p>\n<p>The members of the jury are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gonzalo Lizarralde, Professor of the School of Architecture at the <em>Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, Canada<\/em> (President of the Jury \u2013 Gold Medal MEIN Prize 2016 )<\/li>\n<li>Jos\u00e9 Guadalupe Escamilla de los Santos, Director of Educational innovation, <em>Tecnologico de Monterrey<\/em>, Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Luis Porta, Director of Teacher Education Program, <em>Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata<\/em>, Argentina<\/li>\n<li>Cruzana Amparo de Jes\u00fas Echeverri Restrepo, Research Professor at the <em>Universidad de Antioquia<\/em>, Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Nora Elena Gil Ram\u00edrez, Academic Subdirector and Institutional Outreach, <em>Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Juan Carlos Garc\u00eda Burgos, General Director Colombia at <em>Telef\u00f3nica Educaci\u00f3n Digital<\/em>, Colombia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the contest were presented 32 cases of innovative educational practices and their final or partial outcomes with the aim of demonstrate their impact, led by Higher Education institutions from 12 countries of the continent.<\/p>\n<p>For Dr. Maritza Rond\u00f3n Rangel, rector of the <em>Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia<\/em> (UCC), host of this second edition, the MEIN Award is an opportunity to learn about the wide range of experiences of educational innovation that are currently implemented in the continent and to exchange on the achievements, difficulties, and challenges presented by innovation in higher education.<\/p>\n<p>The three winning institutions of the MEIN Award 2018 are as follow:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>First Price: <em>Programa de formaci\u00f3n en Competencias Interculturales<\/em> from the<em> Universidad de Monterrey<\/em> (Mexico)<\/li>\n<li>Second Price: <em>Programa de Inclusi\u00f3n Educativa y social para J\u00f3venes con discapacidad intelectual<\/em>, presented by the <em>Universidad Iberoamericana<\/em> (Mexico)<\/li>\n<li>Third Price: <em>Modelo de formaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica por referencial de competencias para profesionalizaci\u00f3n sostenible<\/em> presented by the <em>Instituto T\u00e9cnico Agr\u00edcola<\/em> (Colombia).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Moreover, according to their merits, Honorable Mentions were given to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Una nueva perspectiva metodol\u00f3gica para la ense\u00f1anza del Quechua como una lengua viva<\/em>, presented by the <em>Universidad Mayor de San Sim\u00f3n <\/em>(Bolivia)<\/li>\n<li><em>A Universidade no CEU: Uma proposta inovdora de democratiza\u00e7\u00e3o do ensino superior<\/em>, presented by the <em>Univerisdade Estadual Paulista<\/em> (Brasil).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In this edition of the MEIN Award the academic public had the opportunity to attend an international event which allowed them to update and be at the forefront of the educational innovation, in the hope of motivate their institutions in order to develop strategies that promote the educational innovation referred in higher education.
