Arosemena Román, Presidente Executivo, Fundação Ciudad del Saber (Panamá); Paulo Selig, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brasil); David Julien, Secretário-Geral Executivo da OUI (Canadá) e Fernando Daniels, Diretor Executivo COLAM.

O Congresso CiKi 2020 começou com a sessão inaugural que contou com a participação de Oscar Garrido, Presidente do OUI e Reitor da Universidade de Los Lagos (Chile); Rogério Cid Bastos, Pró-Reitor de Extensão, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brasil); Jorge R. Arosemena Román, Presidente Executivo, Fundação Ciudad del Saber (Panamá); Paulo Selig, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brasil); David Julien, Secretário-Geral Executivo da OUI (Canadá) e Fernando Daniels, Diretor Executivo COLAM.

Durante a sessão de abertura, os participantes destacaram a importância do trabalho em equipe e do esforço conjunto para a realização desta versão remota do congresso que, sem dúvida, marca uma nova fase para CiKi. Eles destacaram como esse evento é a prova de que é possível enfrentar as dificuldades e superá-las encontrando novas oportunidades de geração de conhecimento em tempos difíceis e quebra de fronteiras.

Com a confiança de um futuro reencontro, iniciou-se oficialmente o Congresso que sob o tema “Knowledge for business and social development” e, durante dois dias, será palco de discussão para mais de 400 participantes de 10 países, sobre o desenvolvimento de ambientes e ecossistemas de inovação.

O X Congresso Internacional de Conhecimento e Inovação – CiKi é promovido pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia e Gestão do Conhecimento (EGC) da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina – UFSC (Brasil), no Parque Científico Tecnológico da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul – TECNOPUC (Brasil), Programa Colegio de las Américas – COLAM da Organização Universitária Interamericana – OUI (Canadá) e Fundação Ciudad del Saber – FCDS (Panamá), em aliança com inúmeras instituições e organizações de ensino superior comprometida com o desenvolvimento da inovação nas Américas.

Candy Innovation Model: Gerenciando o fluxo de inovação

The conference “Candy Innovation Model: Managing the flow of Innovation” was given by Doctor Josep Miquel Piqué, President of Technova Barcelona – La Salle Innovation Park (Spain) and was moderated by Roberto Carlos dos Santos Pacheco, Program Coordinator Graduate Program in Engineering and Knowledge Management from the Federal University of Santa Catarina – EGC / UFSC (Brazil).

In his presentation, Doctor Piqué shared with the participants the concepts that define this tool that allows any company or institution to organize innovation by managing challenges, stimulating ideas, developing prototypes and validating local and global scalability.

He highlighted the importance of recognizing the innovation of the “start-ups”, of the joint work and the articulated management of various agents such as government, industry and university, which by sharing a vision can develop scalable initiatives capable of solving new challenges.

Innovation environments and the development of the knowledge economy and society

Jorge Nicolás Audy, Superintendent of Innovation, Pontificia Universidad Católica do Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS (Brazil); Jorge Arosemena, Executive President, Ciudad del Saber Foundation (Panama) and Matthew Wettergreen, Director of the Global Medical Innovation program of the Master’s Degree in Bioengineering department, Rice University (United States) and the moderator of José Manuel Aguirre Guillén, Director, Directorate of Technology Parks and Strategic Alliances, Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico).

In this session, each of the guests presented an innovation environment of their region or institution, shared the successful experiences and achievements, recognized those fundamental actors in said experiences, as well as their main contributions and significant actions in the achievement and evolution of the different environments.

They talked about the anecdotes and those mistakes and even failures that have served as great lessons and learnings and that allowed them to improve innovation ecosystems. They shared their recommendations and suggestions for those regions that do not have as many resources in developing innovation environments.

The main conclusions of this participatory exercise are:

• The success of these projects comes from the culture. From the culture of creating, from the culture of collaboration and innovation. From the community culture that is reflected in an educational process of vision. Also from a culture that is open to mistakes.
• It is important to have a long-term vision and understand that many actors from different fields participate in innovation projects, that is why continuity is critical.
• The integration of actors is key, it is a process that must undo barriers and build relationships.
• The current reality has opened us to a global world in which the different actors allow innovation phenomena to occur sooner, therefore, we must take advantage of the community networks in which actors and technology coexist.
