Montreal, 9 May 2018 – The CAIE Steering Committee, under the direction of its Executive Director, Dr. David Julien, is pleased to announce that the 6th edition of the Congress of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) will take place from October 23 to 25, 2019 in Bogotá, Colombia.
Through its previous editions, namely, Canada-2010, Brasil-2012, Mexico-2013, Ecuador-2015 and Canada-2017, the CAIE has consolidated its role as an international forum and continues to gain support from new partners.
“Founded on the principles of collaboration and reciprocity, the CAIE now reunites 39 members, representing government leaders, university leaders and managers, academics and researchers, international relations directors and academic organizations on national, regional, inter-American and international level. The hosting of the 6th edition of the CAIE in Colombia, which showing strong growth in terms of the internationalization of higher education, will be most relevant for the many players wishing to strengthen their partnerships with this country on the rise,” underlines Dr. David Julien, CAIE Executive Director and Executive Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE).
In addition to representing a unique opportunity to debate, connect and build new networks, the CAIE-2017 strengthened our ties with the Colombian delegation. These discussions led, on March 8, 2018, in Bogotá, to the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN) representing a consortium of 18 universities in the Colombian capital. This agreement represented the first step in the process of organizing the 6th edition of the Conference in 2019.
The dynamism and positioning of Colombian higher education institutions and associations on the international scene have convinced us of the opportunity to highlight the efforts these institutions have made to promote a common inter-American space for discussion on current challenges, best practices and future trends on international higher education. The presence of these key players in higher education explains the decision to set the CAIE in Colombia.
The CAIE Steering Committee, under the direction of the IOHE, is composed of representatives of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE-CBIE), the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) and the two previous editions of the CAIE. This Committee is currently working on the definition of the theme and activities for the event. The webinar series that will precede the Conference will soon be unveiled. You will also soon be informed of the call for proposals allowing you to submit your work to be part of the CAIE-2019 academic program.
