The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Concordia UniversityMcGill UniversityUniversité de Montréal and ÉTS (École de technologie supérieure) will host the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) in Montreal from October 11 to 13, 2017. The Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) serves as the CAIE’s Executive Secretariat.

Under the theme “Preparing the Leaders and Innovators of Tomorrow: Research and Higher Education, Bridges to Prosperity Across the Americas”, this major event will bring together some 600 decision-makers from international governmental, university, college and business organizations. They will discuss how to manage the internationalization of research and higher education from a number of strategic angles: social innovation, government-university-industry interactions, fundamental and applied research, and bridges with college education, as well as the education policies most likely to include all groups of society. This international meeting will be an opportunity to share best practices and deepen international collaboration between all stakeholders in these issues.

Montreal, the CAIE host city

For the first time, the five 2017 CAIE host universities submitted a joint bid to draw decision-makers from the Americas to Montreal. As hosts, they will develop new international partnerships and promote their graduate activities. The event will also shine a spotlight on Montreal, which is internationally recognized as a hub of knowledge and culture. The city is known for making the most of such alliances to advance initiatives that hold great promise for its regional and international vitality.

The CAIE

Created in Canada in 2010, the Conference of the Americas on International Education brings together 33 university associations in a space for dialogue and exchange on internationalization. The first four editions of the Conference secured its position as a key player in international higher education.
