Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) is, as of August 2016, Associated Member of the Inter-American on International Education (IOHE) and signatory member of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU); the CAIE’s Executive Secretariat is based in the IOHE headquarters.

This alliance was possible thanks to the approaches of the IOHE and the CCID Executive Directors, Dr. David Julien and Mara Andersen, within the frame of the annual conference of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), by the end of May and the beginning of June, 2016.

“This new partnership will allow IOHE to continue strengthening cooperation links across the continent; but above all, to keep reinforcing our presence in the United States, along with our efforts in the technical and technological education field that characterize the Community Colleges”, Dr. Julien explained.

Ms. Andersen added: “CCID is honored to join IOHE.  Our members are at the forefront of internationalization at community and technical colleges and we look forward to finding opportunities for collaboration through IOHE”.

CCID is a global network of over 130 community, technical, and vocational institutions dedicated to creating globally engaged learning environments; members engage within the network to improve practices, participate in learning communities, and collaborate to advance global opportunities at the college level. Meanwhile, the IOHE, with more than 350 members and 36 years of experience, is internationally recognized for its contribution to the creation of common higher education spaces at the continental level, in order to stimulate the implementation of innovative strategies promoting the quality and the relevance of its institutional work.

In this context, the IOHE and CCID will materialize their collaboration as of November, throughout their joint participation in the IGLU High Management Seminar Innovative Management of Technological Education, in November 3-4, 2016, in Torreon, Mexico. It is in this line that the IOHE will participate in the CCID Annual Conference, which will be held in Houston, Texas, in February, 2017.

Thus, both entities undertake to encourage the improvement of postsecondary education, along with the increase of opportunities at the latter in the Americas, with world-wide effects.
