The executive directors of the Institute for University Management and Leadership (IGLU) and the CAMPUS Program of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), Dr. Miguel Escala and Dr. Raúl Arias, respectively, participated in the Forum of Latin American Experts in Higher Education: Good Ideas for Action, organized by the World Bank, which was held from March 7th to 9th, 2016 in Bogota, Colombia.

“I would like to emphasize the participation of the IOHE representatives in this Forum because, by our experiences ranging over 35 years, we have contributed to the design of collaborative Higher Education projects in Latin America and the Caribbean”, Dr. Arias mentioned.

“(The meeting was) a great opportunity to build projects with participating accomplices in dreams, who are committed to the best transformation of higher education in Latin America”, said, for his part, Dr. Escala.

This event brought together experts in internationalization of higher education in Latin America and other regions, including Dr. Hans De Wit, director of the Center for International Higher Education, in Boston College, whose presentation addressed the topic of “Academic and Professional Mobility”.

Other important topics discussed at the event included:

  • Ensuring the quality and relevance of Tertiary Education
  • Training of advanced human capital, innovation, and research
  • Training of Professors

There were also other specialized work sessions, based on group topics formed by the experts who, subsequently, shared their results.
