8th edition of the ciKi: “Innovation habitats and the knowledge economy: a stake in the future”

Guadalajara, Mexico City, 25 September 2018 – The 8th International Conference on Knowledge and Innovation (CiKi 2018), at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, is coming to an end today.

Inter-American forum for the exchange of trends and strategies, the ciKi aims to create spaces for discussion and analysis of experiences, models and best practices to promote the knowledge society in the Americas, while highlighting strategic issues that stimulate innovation processes in the region.

Organizing the ciKi in Mexico was the next logical step in the evolution of the conference and the city of Guadalajara, which is positioned as a pole in technology and innovation was evident. We are pleased to have gathered and mobilized the participation of different levels of national and foreign governments who support the efforts of higher education institutions in the development of innovation habitats“,said Dr. David Julien, IOHE Executive Director.

On the theme “Innovation habitats and the knowledge economy: a stake in the future”, the eighth edition of this great event brought together 200 participants from 13 countries of the Americas. Numerous networking and co-production sessions, the presentation of 119 selected works and visits of innovative companies in Jalisco’s innovation ecosystem were held throughout these two days.

The CiKi has consolidated itself as an inter-American space that promotes the exchange of ideas, trends, approaches and practices in knowledge management, intellectual capital, habitats and ecosystems of innovation“, emphasizes Fernando Daniels, Executive Director of the College of the Americas (COLAM).

The CiKi-2018 was coordinated by the College of the Americas (COLAM), a program of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), the Graduate Program in Engineering and Knowledge Management (EGC) of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and University of Guadalajara, headquarters of the vice-presidency of the IOHE, Region of Mexico.
