Boston, June 29, 2018 – In the heart of the Boston College campus, a meeting of some participants of the new edition of the course, organized by the Institute of Management and University Leadership (IGLU) took place.

The IGLU Program was created by the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) in 1983. It has trained and continues to train hundreds of leaders throughout the Americas. The IGLU course includes six training modules, a week on site, twelve virtual weeks, and an internship.

As part of this internship, Boston College‘s Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) opened its doors to 29 university leaders from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Mexico, who were part of this new cohort of the IGLU program.

The central themes of this meeting were the innovation and the internationalization in higher education. Prof. Hans de Wit and Dr. Laura Rumbley, CIHE officials, were able to identify trends and raise the challenges that await higher education in a context of globalization at a conference attended by IGLU students. The week also included visits to the following institutions: Babson College, LASPAU (Harvard University), Northeastern University, and Olin College.

This IGLU internship in one of the world’s best leading internationalization research centers was an excellent opportunity for our participants to share successful experiences and best practices in international higher education,” said Dr. Leticia Jimenez, Executive Director of IGLU.

Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of the IOHE, also made the trip and took advantage of his presence to consolidate the IOHE partnership with Boston College and to recall the many opportunities for collaboration offered by the IOHE across the Americas, including through the organization of the Congress of the Americas on International Education (CAIE). The CAIE favors a wide range of exchanges by connecting organizations and institutions of higher education in all regions of the Americas and focusing on the themes of international education and internationalization. The next edition will take place in Bogota, Colombia, from October 23 to 25, 2019.
