Córdoba (Argentina), June 15, 2018 – The Third Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRES 2018) came to an end on June 14. This meeting takes place every ten years and is an opportunity to discuss regional trends in higher education. CRES 2018 mobilized more than 7,000 participants.

The Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) could not miss this opportunity to meet with rectors, academic directors, students, professional associations, research centers, representatives of government and non-government organizations from across the continent, and to discuss current educational systems and to draw a road map that reaffirms the place of education in social transformation.

CRES 2018 coincided with the centenary of the Manifesto Liminar of 1918 and ended with the reading of the Córdoba Declaration, which confirms the importance of the principles that guided the university reform of Córdoba: Higher education is a social public good and a universal human right.

The IOHE recognizes the trends and reflections that emerged during CRES 2018. We are now looking to the future, with the celebration of many events in the coming months within our organization. Today we focus on the issues of innovation, scientific research and sustainable development,” said David Julien, IOHE Executive Director.

ciKi, for example, which will take place in September 2018 in Guadalajara (Mexico), will offer a forum for exchanging and networking on trends, experiences, good practices and problem solving for innovation management, knowledge management and intellectual capital.

The presentation of the MEIN Awards, scheduled in Medellin (Colombia) next October, will promote the dissemination, exchange and knowledge of educational practices that, due to their characteristics and results, are relevant examples of innovation in Higher Education.

Not to mention the CAIE, whose seventh edition will take place in October 2019 in Bogota (Colombia), will bring together higher education institutions and organizations from all regions across the Americas to discuss topics related to international higher education and internationalization.
