IOHE Regional Assembly of Andean Countries at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil.

On August 2, the IOHE Regional Assembly of Andean Countries was held at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, headquarters of the Regional Vice-Presidency of Andean Countries and its main objective was to present the institutional priorities of the IOHE for this year, both at the general and regional level.

The presentation of IOHE priorities for 2024-2025, and the invitation to participate in the next edition of the Coference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE), from October 15 to 17 in Costa Rica, were given by the IOHE Executive Secretary General, Dr. David Julien, followed by the presentation of the Regional Development Plan 2023-2025 of the Andean Countries Regional Vice-Presidency, by the rector of the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG), Walter Mera.

A part of the assembly was also dedicated to the reception of contributions and comments from the representatives of the member institutions of the Andean Countries region.

The assembly was held in a hybrid format so that those who were unable to travel to Guayaquil could participate virtually.

Afterwards, Dr. Marcelo Knobel, a globally recognized expert in higher education, former Rector of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) and of INSPER in Brazil, gave the keynote lecture “The art of maintaining the relevance of the University in a complex future scenario”.

Also, within the framework of this OUI Andean Countries Regional Assembly, the workshop “Strengthening Collaborative Skills for the Development of Inter-network, Inter-institutional and International Projects” was held, facilitated by Eco. Claudia Aponte, Mgs, expert in internationalization of curriculum and learning outcomes and Independent.
