The Asociación de Universidades del Perú (ASUP) became recently the latest Associated Member of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), and the 31st signatory member of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE), whose Executive Secretariat is located in the IOHE.

With 65 public and private universities, the ASUP meets its objectives of university representation in the Peru and abroad. This non-profit institution was founded in 2014 and has the following pillars: internationalization, university autonomy, quality and accreditation, as well as research.

Meanwhile, the IOHE, with more than 345 members and 36 years of experience, is internationally recognized for its contribution to the creation of common higher education spaces at the continental level, in order to stimulate the implementation of innovative strategies promoting the quality and the relevance of its institutional work.

“The values shared by both the IOHE and the ASUP form the basis for a prolific collaboration. Both entities have shown strong commitment to improve higher education in the Americas”, indicated Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of the IOHE.

On the other hand, Dr. Ada Gallegos, Executive Director of the ASUP, said: “Academics and universities of Peru will benefit henceforth from a great international space for the dialogue and the construction of innovative propositions, thanks to the laudable work of the IOHE”.

Thus, both entities undertake to encourage the participation of their respective memberships to join this common space that supports the debate, reflection and present and future actions in the field of higher education of the Americas.
