We kicked off the Diploma in Internationalization of Higher Education 2025 (DIES) with an inspiring opening lecture by Dr. María Verónica Peña Seminario, Director of Internationalization at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Dr. Peña Seminario, who also serves as Regional Executive Secretary for the Andean Countries of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) and Executive Secretary of the Red Ecuatoriana para la Internacionalización de la Educación Superior (REIES), shared her vision on how educational quality is key to effective and sustainable internationalization in higher education institutions.
He also emphasized the fundamental role of networks in the internationalization process, highlighting their impact on academic collaboration, knowledge exchange and the global projection of educational institutions.
The Diploma is made up of seven modules focused on two learning paths: one for the staff of the International Relations Offices and other university managers, and another one aimed at teaching and research staff, each path is made up of five modules.
In this cohort of DIES 2025, 23 directors, coordinators and internationalization managers, as well as teachers and academics from different higher education institutions in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico and Peru are participating.
