The Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) through its Institute of University Management and Leadership (IGLU), and the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) hosted on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of February, in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, the IGLU High Management Seminar “Innovative Management of Technical and Technological Institutions”, which was supported by the participation of 20 senior leaders including presidents, vice-presidents, executive directors, coordinators, managers, and teachers.
Four countries of the Americas were represented: Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico and Dominican Republic. Moreover, eight Higher Education Institutions were present at the seminar including: Centro Educativo CEDVA, Institución Universitaria Pascual Bravo, Instituto Técnico Superior Comunitario, Universidad Católica Tecnológica del Cibao, MINERD, INFOCAL, ITLA and INTEC.
Senior management of the host institution, ITLA, present at the seminar included: the President, the Vice-President of Administration, the Vice President Academic, the Coordinator of Basic Sciences, the head of the networking sector, the head of the Mechatronics department, the head of the School of Languages, the head of Human Resources, the head of Educational Technology, the head of the Software department, the head of the Department of Extension.
The program was under the responsibility of the facilitators Sylvie Thériault, representative of the Fédération des Cégeps (Quebec, Canada), José Armando Tavárez, President of ITLA and Miguel Escala, Executive Director of IGLU.
This training session will be followed by others in the coming months, which will address leaders in terms of: University Management and Positive Analysis, Change and Strategic Leadership, Themes of Curriculum and Teaching in Management of Educational Innovation, Management of Innovation and Relations with Businesses, Management of Programs and Projects in Higher Education and Management of Monitoring Strategic Plans.
