Thorough international missions, strategic meetings, and participation in key events, the President and the Executive Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), Dr. Allan Cahoon and Dr. David Julien, aim at multiplying efforts with partners in the United States, aspiring thus to occupy a greater presence in the country.

In the first instance, on May 17th and 18th, 2016, Washington DC witnessed a consolidation of relationships with universities that have been already part of the organization, while meetings with potential members took place. Furthermore, the IOHE was positioned within the organization of American States (OAS) in front of the new authorities, some permanent missions and NGOs that are dedicated to the internationalization of the higher education. In this context, the US capital served as a reception venue for several most important meetings tackling issues in relation with the higher education at a hemispheric level.

On the other hand , Dr. Julien attended the annual conference of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), held from May 29th to June, 2016. In the event, where some 10 000 participants were present, the Executive Director was part of the Latin-American Forum of NASA, and held meetings with potential US members. Also, the executive director coordinated activities with his colleagues of the signatory Associations of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) as a space created to straighten the academic cooperation across the continent.

With these actions, the new Executive Director of the IOHE works hard to reaffirm the presence of the Organization in its nine regions , covering consequently all the concerns of the continent.
