The signing of this agreement will favor the integration of Texas Higher Education Institutions into the IOHE to facilitate opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

Meeting in Washington, DC for the 75th edition of NAFSA, IOHE representatives took the opportunity to ratify the agreement with the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) that ensures the consortium’s participation, with a Texas higher education exhibition and information booth, in the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAEI-2023). This event will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from November 6 to 8 of this year, and will strengthen contacts, exchange experiences, and chart the future of academic cooperation in the region.

According to Dr. Lawrence Schovanec, President of Texas Tech University (TTU) and Chair of TIEC’s Board of Directors, “TTU and TIEC are very committed to Latin America. We have a campus in Costa Rica, and we hope to strengthen ties with other countries by linking up with the OUI and participating in the next version of the CAEI.”

For the IOHE, this agreement is very positive, as expressed by its Executive director, David Julien, “In the preparation exercise of the CAEI-2023, we are proud that TIEC has joined the IOHE associate members, since we know that through its participation, other Higher Education Institutions and associations will join this inter-American network.”

Finally, Robin Lerner, J.D., President and CEO of TIEC stressed, “We are pleased to open this collaborative scenario to our members and consider our presence at CAEI 2023 as a great opportunity to link with our continent.”
