The sixth edition of the International Conference on Knowledge and Innovation (CiKi) was held under the theme: “Accelerating Innovation: Decisive Factor for Social Development. The event was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), through its program College of the Americas (COLAM), and the Universidad Santo Tomás, in Bogota, Colombia.
Among the participants, the presence of many outstanding personalities working in the public, academic, private sectors, as well as the Third sector.
In the ceremony of inauguration were present the Executive Director of the IOHE, Dr. David Julien, the President of the Universidad Santo Tomas fr. Juan Ubaldo López Salamanca, the Sub-Director of COLCIENCIAS Dr. Alejandro OLAYA, Roberto Bolulllo de MINTIC, and Paulo Selig, General Coordinator of the ciKi.
“The VI ciki will be remembered for its highly-qualified speakers and its audience. From the IOHE, we will continue bringing together the major players in the continent and promoting initiatives in the field of innovation. This dimension is actually reinforced in our Strategic Plan 2017 -2022”, said Dr. Julien.
For his part, Mr. Fernando Daniels, Executive Director of the College of the Americas (COLAM-IOHE) said: “We are confident that, from now on, a permanent space for dialogue and exchange will be maintained in order to promote the implementation of innovation ecosystems that gather different actors coming from various horizons”.
Plenary Conferences and Round Tables were dictated and directed by the representatives of the different universities, governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private companies coming from 19 countries.
The ciki is a regional event that aims at promoting the conceptual and methodological development, as well as the practice in Knowledge Management, Intellectual Capital, and Innovation Management. It also seeks to create spaces for discussion and analysis of experiences, models, and best practices for the advancement of the knowledge society in all the countries of the Americas, while highlighting the strategic themes that allow us to boost innovation processes in the region. The next events of the ciki will be hosted by Iguazu, Brazil, in 2017, and Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2018.
Between November and December, IOHE’s Activities of the utmost importance will take place, including, in particular, the General Assembly meeting and the MEIN Award Ceremony celebrated in Guadalajara, Mexico.
