The Board of Directors of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) met on October 13 at the Consejo Nacional de Rectores de Costa Rica (CONARE)
The 94th meeting of the IOHE Board of Directors was attended by IOHE President Maritza Rondón Rangel, from the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, as well as outgoing President Oscar Garrido, Rector from Universidad de Los Lagos, Chile; Prosecutor Karla Alejandra Escárcega Robledo from the Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico; the rectors representing the nine Regional Vice-Presidencies (Central America, Brazil, the Caribbean, Colombia, the Southern Cone, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Andean Countries), the SERs, and some members of the support teams of the Higher Education Institutions that make up the board.
Following the presentations of reports by the Presidency, General Secretariat, and Treasury, each Regional Vice Presidency presented a report that included the actions undertaken to date, as well as projections for 2026. It renewed its commitment to continue working for the good of higher education in its regions and consolidated the work plan for the coming year, the management roadmap for 2027, which will be the foundation for the work of the vice-presidencies and the Executive General Secretariat.

On the other hand, the 45th General Assembly of IOHE Members was held on Tuesday, October 14, at the Universidad Hispanoamericana (Aranjuez campus) in San José, Costa Rica, as part of the ninth edition of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAEI2025), scheduled for October 15-17 under the theme: Transforming Knowledge into Development.
Among the main topics addressed at this assembly were the ratification of five Regional Vice-Presidencies (Brazil, Caribbean, Colombia, Mexico, and Andean Countries) and the Presidency of the IOHE, the welcoming of new institutions that joined the IOHE this year, and the presentation of reports from the Presidency, General Secretariat, Treasury, and Electoral Commission.
Afterwards, the Universidad Hispanoamericana hosted a reception.
