IOHE El Salvador 2024 Mission

Dr. Leticia Jiménez, Academic Director of the IOHE was on a mission in El Salvador representing the organization at the working meeting in which the 2024-2025 priorities were defined and also participated in the XI International Congress on Higher Education “Education for the Future: Innovative Strategies for the Personalization of Learning”.

The mission began with the Working Meeting: IOHE Priorities 2024-2025, which was held on June 28 in Building E of Dr. Andrés Bello University and started with welcoming remarks by Dr. Daysi Carolina M. de Gómez, Regional Counselor of the IOHE Central America Regional Vice-Presidency.

Dr. Eduardo Umanzor Serrano, Vice Rector of Dr. Andrés Bello University, gave the microphone to Dr. Leticia Jiménez, Academic Director of the IOHE, to speak about the general and regional priorities for 2024 and 2025, as well as the upcoming events, among them the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) to be held in Costa Rica on October 15, 16 and 17, 2025.

Afterward, Dr. Jiménez gave a workshop on “Leadership Styles and Higher Education”, where she presented some topics and conducted a practical exercise for university leaders.

About 18 presidents, vice presidents, and directors of IOHE member institutions in El Salvador attended, including Universidad Salvadoreña Alberto Masferrer, Universidad Dr. Andrés Bello, Universidad Gerardo Barrios, Universidad Pedagógica de El Salvador “Dr. Luis Alonso Aparicio”, Universidad Nueva San Salvador, Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador, Universidad Modular Abierta, Instituto Especializado de Profesionales de la Salud and Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas.

The XI International Congress of Higher Education “Education for the Future: Innovative Strategies for the Personalization of Learning” was held on June 29 at the Hilton San Salvador Hotel. The event was inaugurated with the words of Ana Iveth de Umanzor, Rector of the Universidad Dr. Andrés Bello.

Dr. Leticia Jiménez gave a presentation on “Teaching strategies in the internationalization of the curriculum for educational innovation”, where she presented some tools and good practices focused on internationalization. As well as the efforts that have been made by the IOHE in this area.

On the other hand, international experts made presentations in which they addressed trends in higher education and learning and presented key issues such as challenges and commitments, neuroeducation in teaching practice, learning analytics to address university dropout and strategies for effective teaching in virtual environments.

The following international speakers participated in the event:

  • Dr. Fabian Basabe, Educational Consultant and Lecturer in Europe and Latin America, Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds, England.
  • Mariana Gómez Mejía, Master in Consumer Behavior and Expert in Neuropsychology, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Colombia.
  • Dr. Johanna Alvarado, Coordinator of Projects and Calls at Living Lab & Data Hub, Institute for the Future of Education, Tecnológico de Monterrey.
  • Vladimir Valladares, Consultant in e-learning, educational technology, and instructional design, Organization of Iberoamerican States, Chile.
