The Strategic Planning Workshop of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), the signature of the Laudato si’ Chair Letter of Intent, as well as the networking event among the IOHE’s universities and the Consortium of Cooperation and Internationalization of Higher Education in the State of Jalisco take place on November 24th, 2016, thanks to the collaboration of the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG), headquarter of the Mexico Regional Vice-Presidency, led by its President, Mtr. Iztcóatl Tonatiuh Bravo Padilla.

The Strategic Planning Workshop is carried out at the premises of the host institution. The objective of this activity is to reach an agreement and draft a document that will be subject to approval by the Board of Directors and ratified by the General Assembly of the IOHE.

“With this training, we conclude the process of the IOHE’s Strategic Planning for the period 2017-2022, which consisted on extensive consultations, workshops, and surveys, through which we were able to identify the most relevant needs and challenges of our Membership that counts currently more than 350 institutions and associations in 27 countries of the Americas, and key partners in Europe and Asia”, explained the IOHE’s Executive Director, Dr. David Julien.

On the other hand, with the signature of the Letter of Intention of the Chair Laudato Si’, twelve of the most important Catholic universities or of those with Christian inspiration in the Americas constitute the base of the IOHE’s initiative, while developing links of cooperation in order to design the Program of academic Activities and Research related to the Sustainable Development.

Moreover, a welcoming meeting, in which participate the representatives of the IOHE membership who are present in the General Assembly and the Consortium of Cooperation and Internationalization of Higher Education in Jalisco, integrated by the UdeG, the Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology of the State of Jalisco (SICYT) and other five influential universities of the Mexican city, take place.

Subsequently, the LXXVI Meeting of the Board of Directors and the XXXVI General Assembly of the IOHE, where the IOHE’s highest authorities will share the results obtained in the areas of membership, programs, alliances, administration, among other important issues for the organization and higher education in the continent, will be held.
