The High Management Seminar: Innovative Management of Technical and Technological Education and the National Meeting of Curricular Environmentalization in Higher Education were carried out in Torreon and Mexico City, in the Mexico Region of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) during the last week of March 2017.

On March 29-31,2017, the High Management Seminar addressing the specific themes of the Inter-American Space for Higher Technical and Technological Education (EIESTEC) was held thanks to the collaboration of the IOHE with the Asociación Nacional de Universidades Tecnológicas (ANUT), and the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), having as host Universidad Tecnológica de Torreón (UTT). More than 100 Presidents and Directors of Technical, Technological and Technical Education Institutions from Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile, and the United States participated in this Seminar, among them Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of IOHE.

“In this training, the first of its kind in Mexico, Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Academic Directors and Coordinators participated in a dialogue on academic and administrative trends in technical and technological education, support mechanisms and good practices in learning and management methodologies”, said Dr. Julien during the final event’s speech.

Thus, highlighting the presence of state, regional, and local chambers of commerce, Raúl Martínez, President of ANUT, pointed out that the Seminar also kept the interest of the business sector, a fundamental partner of the technical and technological education sector.

Also in Mexico, the National Meeting of Curricular Environmentalization in Higher Education, which took place from 28 to 29 March 2017 at the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México, brought together around 130 professors, researchers, students, educational planners and university managers, in order to systematize the experiences regarding the inclusion of the environment in the academic curriculum of their respective institutions and to promote the exchange of projects, methodological strategies and didactic materials.

This event was attended by Dr. David Julien and Dr. Rosa Montes, Executive Directors of IOHE and its CAMPUS program; the latter is based at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), and was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Consorcio Mexicano de Programas Ambientales Universitarios para el Desarrollo Sustentable (COMPLEXUS), the Academia Nacional de Educación Ambiental (ANEA), the Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES) and the Mexican Governement.
