The Executive Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), Dr David Julien, presented a parallel session in the 41st Annual Conference of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID), associate member of the IOHE.

The presentation was made in collaboration with Cegep International, of Quebec, Canada. The initiatives of the IOHE, in particular those related to technical and technological education in the Americas, were promoted during the presentation, bringing to light the Conference of the Americas on Higher Education (CAIE) and highlighting the Inter-American Space of Technical and Technological Institutions of Higher Education (EIESTEC).

Under the title “Aligning the stars”, participants and presenters of the event were invited to explore how to connect resources, ideas and opportunities, while promoting the concept of “Global Citizenship” in colleges of tertiary education at community, technical and vocational levels.

“These types of events are meeting points that foster exchanges and institutional initiatives in favor of both college and university communities of all parts of the Americas. We are present here in order to consolidate the US participation in our inter-American spaces of collaboration, and we have succeeded to confirm the participation of some of them in our Senior Management Seminar to be held in Mexico in March”, said Dr. Julien. “That seminar, entitled Innovative Administration of Technological Education,  will be carried out on March 30-31, in the city of Torreon, thanks to the collaboration with the Mexican Asociación Nacional de Universidades Tecnológicas (ANUT) and the support of the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico (SEP).

During his presentation, the Executive Director of the IOHE grabbed the opportunity to invite to attendees to the Fifth Edition of the CAIE (CAIE Canada-2017) that will be held from October 11 to 13, 2017, in Montreal under the main theme “Preparing the Leaders and Innovators of Tomorrow: Research and Higher Education, Bridges to Prosperity across the Americas”.

“Recently, Montreal was named world’s best city for higher education by the latest QS survey. Consequently, there is no better context to declare that the coming EIESTEC activity will be held in the framework of the same Conference. We hope to see you in October in order to continually create inter-America ties among our associations and institutions “, he added.

The CCID is a signatory member of the Memorandum of Understanding of the Executive Secretariat of CAEI Canada-2017, initiative of which the Membership also forms part.
