Panama, 27 February 2019 – Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI – IOHE) and the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE), took advantage of his presence at the annual meeting of the Asociación de rectores del Caribe y las Américas (ARCA) to promote the mission of the IOHE and that of the CAIE.
Thus, the Asociación nacional de Universidades privadas (ANUP) of Bolivia and Asociación paraguaya de Universidades privadas (APUP) of Paraguya, became members of the IOHE before joining the CAIE’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The ANUP and the APUP bring together the main universities of Bolivia and Paraguay in order to improve the quality of education of the institutions that integrate it, strengthen the university system and promote a constructive relationship between public and private universities in their respective region.
The CAIE now has 44 associated members of its MoU, while the IOHE brings together and creates networks between more than 350 institutions throughout the Americas.
“The common values shared by the IOHE, the ANUP and the APUP will serve as a basis for a fruitful collaboration. This new alliance will improve and expand opportunities for post-secondary education in the Americas. Next CAIE, held in October, in Bogota, will also build on our mutual commitment to improving higher education in the Americas, “said Dr. David Julien, IOHE and CAIE Executive Director.
The ANUP and the APUP thus undertake to encourage the participation of their respective members in the framework of this common space, which supports the debate, the reflection, as well as the present and future actions in the higher education of the Americas.
